- Lot of water has gone under the bridge...

Yes, I went to London last weekend - yet again. And as usual I had a great time. The highlights of the trip are a bit hazy as it has been some time since but I remember at least one thing. Yes, I had a car accident. Some woman in a shiny red car - and now very dented and scratched- drove into my trusty impeccable and ever clean car. I am of course refering to my very big and lovely Daihatsu Charade for those wondering.
I kid you not - this is now the second time I have had a car accident in London and it is not like I am always there!! What are the chances ?! ;-)

Last Monday I had the gasman visiting to check the whole gasthing. That was very entertaining and I enjoyed it very much. (To be read - yakk, terribly boring, had to wait for him for ages and when he showed up he wasn't even young, handsome or wearing shorts...!)

Last night there was a 'meeting' (Saumaklúbbur) with the Icelandic Knitting Society where anything except knitting is discussed. It was really nice, we had a lovely haddock with rice (Mmm, just like you can get in Iceland. Yummi yummi!), washed down with some very interesting conversation about religion and the meaning of life. And that isn't a joke!

Take care...!

- Weekend again

This weekend the plan is to shop till I drop. Not that I have any money to spend, oh noooo. But let's not hang ourselves in tiny small insignificant details.

This evening I went through the agonizing process of cooking. It involved opening up a bag of nachos and to top it all off I opened a jar of salsa sauce. Yes, just call me Siggi Hall. Or for those who unfortunately do not know who that is - it is equavalent to Jamie Oliver, otherwisely known as the naked chef. Ok, so maybe nothing really impressive but in my defense I would like to add that I only got home from work at around 19.15.

Yesterday I had haddock and potatoes. Stuff I actually cooked myself. Which is why this house I live in stinks at the moment.

Tonight the highlight will be 'The Patriot' on the telly. It contains one hunky, so so sexy Steven Seagal. Ok, I have seen the movie before but I can go through it again I think. If not, then I will just spend my evening with the computer on my lap - again - and that might result in this blogsite changing it's look once again since only last night. This is already an old look by now, but time flies fast in this age of satellites (hands up who know the song to which this refers to..? - ok, a hint, Eurovision... Pálmi Gunnars...)

Oooh, have I mentioned my new telly!! Yebs, I am really doing some serious growing up here in the UK. A vacuum cleaner/hoover and a new telly. Where will this end.....!!
With my telly I also got a free installation on SKY. Which is great, but the *** landlady says no to anything going on the house - she justifies it with the fact she doesn't really watch TV. But SHE ISN'T LIVING HERE!!!!!!! ARGHHH!!!!!

Well, before I absolutely loose myself in this topic and say and write something I will regret I am going to mentally prepare myself for a dose of Steven Seagal.

Take care - Ta'ra'

- The Puffin Party

Must say that the puffin party was extraordinarily well lucked (Ok, so this is directly translated from Icelandic but it just describes the party so well). People started gathering there around 18.00 and there was a starter, smoked puffin, buried goose along with some melon and mousse. Yum yum. Then we were deemed advanced enough by the party holders for the main course. It was puffins ('fresh'), browned/caramelized potatoes (cooked in loads of sugar), apple salad and some delicious sauce made from puffin broth. This was enjoyed with lots and lots of redwine. Thank you very much Auður and Bjöggi!! After all this eating the guitars were pulled out and the evening - and a big chunk of the night as well - went by with singing and playing. Fortunately their next door neighbour didn't come over to complain about the noice:) - Actually I (the neightbour) didn't mind the singing at all, even think there might be a future for us and we should look into doing an album. It would sell like hot thick pancakes (Icel. heitar lummur) Anyway, absolutely great fun. Thank you again Auður and Bjöggi. Can't wait for the next party!!

The other week, or was it this week? - well, anyway - Petra (my room mate in the OPH (Old Peoples Home) in Finland) rang me and I am very tempted to go visit her for a few days in Austria. Will be fantastic to meet her again and would be so great if Jana could come over from Germany. Jana is by the way going to France for a few months this year - Good one Jana!

Next, on my 'to do' list is to mention my trip the other month when I went to visit Heija and Pedro in London. I am by the way still miffed that I didn't manage to visit Þórunn and Pedro that time - Sorry Þórunn!! So, the visit to H&P was great. I really enjoyed my time there. We, amongst other things, went to a Russian restaurant and since we have all been in Russia it was a bit like being 'home'. I did have the Pelmeni's as mentioned in a previous post, but also blini's with salmon as starter and then blinis with 'tvorag' as a dessert. I definitely recommend the restaurant - Potemkin - and I also recommend the Gregorian redwine. Not the expensive Gregorian but the other one :)

Ok, think this is enough for now.
...I wonder why it is that when you are writing about 'nothing' you have loads to write about but when it comes to writing thesis, like the thesis I am supposed to be writing then pouff, nothing! Arg, this is so unfair!! Sniff sniff (the teary one not the drug related one)

- No news are good news

Went to Copenhagen for a few days, it was nice. Met grandma and Þóra and Betina & Sören. But I also met Camilla and she is great. Obviously!! She is now 6 months old and it was the first time I saw her. I will have to try to get back to Denmark soon to meet them all again.

Tonight I am going next door, there is a 'Lundaveisla' - 'puffin-party'. It will be good fun, lots of people and puffins. But exactly therefore I will have to go get ready.

Later....
